About Me
I’m all about externalising the things we do on our phones, and tackling the infrastructural dysfunctions of our bright young digital world. I research placeness (Adam Aleksic), data ownership, and how to design our community tools in ways which empower them to address their actual needs. This means that ubiquitous design (HCI) and work such as Scott Jenson’s are high on my radar. Two concrete examples of my subject area: Physical media and federated platforms are two technologies which both inherently contribute placeness in their own ways.
Technology should conform and adapt to us, not the other way around. As our technological strides elongate and undoubtedly change resident-landlord, student-teacher, and even child-parent relationships, it’s more critical than ever to design mindfully and sustainably. In a world which so often buys ‘packaged solutions,’ software and services to fill the infrastructural gaps of our now-tech-powered institutions, it’s critical that we remember to design at all.
